We are here!!! We arrived in Yaounde last night around 7:40 pm. The Diederichs were at the airport to welcome us along with 10 of the Navigator volunteers. We felt loved and prepared for. We were whisked away to the AOC campus and had a light fruit salad before heading to bed. The kids loved the marvel of sleeping under the mosquito netting and it took them a bit to fall asleep. Cameroon doesn’t do daylight savings time and so it gets light earlier and dark later than on the East coast. We were actually cool last night and had to pull on an additional sheet to keep cozy.
This morning when Gaby woke up she said, “It sounds so pretty here. I didn’t know Africa sounded like this.” She was hearing the chorus of the morning birds welcoming in a new day. Today has been full of unpacking and trying to set up a bit before the end of the week. Tomorrow the program begins lightly and will hit full speed by Friday (the 14th).
We arrived safely and with all 10 bags with us. That is a huge praise. Thanks for helping us to get here through your prayers and support. We will update within the week on our new adventures and will post pictures when we can. Many warm blessings and greetings from Cameroon.
